All-terrain or Mud-terrain I need to put a new set of tires on the FJ. I have had three sets of BFG All-Terains on another truck. I've gotten 80'000 plus miles out of each set. I like the look, the wear, and the ride. But I also like the look of the BFG Mud-terains. I was told by a BFG dealer that the snow traction is not very good. I was out in the rockies last jan and I saw several sets, so they can't be that bad. Does anybody know what kind of milage I could expect out of a set? Any sugestions? I need to say I live in Michigan, mud is not a concern but snow is.

I have the Toyo M/T Open Country. These are my first set of true mudders. I alway had ATs before (Wranglers and a couple others I forgot). The Toyo were the most expensive tires I ever bought (about $300 each) but they have held up very well. I have about 43,000 on them now and from the looks of it, I could probably get another 43,000. I had all the same concerns as you. I do alot of over-the-road driving and these tires are holding up better than I expected. I always heard that you would only get about 40,000 out of mudders. And while they are not as quiet at my old A/Ts, they are not as bad as most of the mudders out there. Oh, and they kick butt in the mud! Hope this helps.

Same size as the originals. I didn't go any bigger. And they are pricey - it was hard getting that one by the wife, but I had a big bonus last year. Hey Squid, I'm going on down to Tulsa next weekend for the big gun show - Wanamacher. You going down? if so, I can show you what they look like with 43,000. My buddy and I will be there browsing the aisles. I don't know if you're into that sorta stuff, but being the outdoorsy type, I thought you might appreciate a fine rifle or shotgun. TommyBoy
