| How to eliminate tire rubbing? Just picked up a set of Dick Cepak rims and Crusher tires. The tires are LT285/70R/17. Also have 3" lift kit. I'm told this should fit but the front tires (primarily left) are rubbing when tires turned in. Any suggestions??? Thanks! |

| Got the answer. Despite tire fitting specs from Dick Cepek folks and getting the same answer from other businesses, the Dick Cepek Crusher 285 70R17 did not fit on my 07 fj cruiser, even with a 3" lift kit and proper spacings/backings, etc. Both front tires rubbed into the mud flap when turning the wheel in either direction. The solution was to cut out a piece of the metal behind the mud flap. I forget the name of the specific location but I got the idea from another forum (thanks!!). The "shop" guys tell me that this process will not affect the structural integrity of the vehicle. Cheap, one-day turnaround. If you see a fj fall apart on the road, I got what I paid for... |

| It'll rub on the body mount. For some reason the body mount sticks out an inch or two. If you don't have the tools most weld shops can cut this for you and then weld a piece in place to protect the bushing. I have a picture on my other puter that shows the before and after if needed. |

| Thanks also. I have it at a local performance shop to give it a body mount-reduction. Same folks that installed the lift kit/wheels/tires. They did point out the possible rubbing when I initially drove off with the new set-up, but didn't id possible fixes at the time (last week). When I returned same day with the rubbing clearly a problem (when turning only), the tech guy immediately said he'll cut out a tad. The shop "guaranteed" a fix. I'm following up today for progress and pose the protection-of-bushing factor, as well as their take on potential problems with the drive train. Shop is north of Newport, Rhode Island and only one recommended to me by area folks doing mods. Thanks again.... input very much appreciated since I am NOT a tech guy. |

| I just installed a 3" revtek with MT 285/70R17. When I drove it away I noticed the same rubbing you did. I took it back and they said they fixed it by adjusting the casters...no cutting needed. It seems to have worked with mine. Maybe the DC tires are more knobby than the MTs. |
