rear diff

just checked my rear diff oil. wondering what type toyota put in. color is really dark was expecting more of a clear. just wondering if the rear end problems people are having with fjc is from excessive heat from being tight. going to have toy look at fluid may check front diff also to see and compare color to see the difference. otthers may want to check theirs also.

I usually change my diff oil over to Mobil 1 synthetic at 3000 miles on all my new vehicles just to get the old stuff out and it's usually pretty dark. They say it's not necessary but I always just feel better knowing I'm running synthetic and that it's full.

sounds like good info. will be changing oil soon because of suspected rear diff problems encountered on new fjs.

That's how we found out that the new Titans back in 2004 were coming from the factory underfilled. I was lucky and caught it early but others weren't and it cost them a rear diff and after that their trucks just never were the same.

actual change directions???

could you give me the brief skinny on changing my differential fluid out front/rear in my 2008 2wd FJ? Want to check the level and also change it out for fresh clean fluid so I know its exactly what it should be and the level where it should be...
