| Toyota Offering $2,000 to Dealers Toyota Motor Corp. has extended a special offer to its dealers nationwide, offering them $2,000 to purchase base-model "B-cab" editions of the Tundra pickup, which was redesigned for the 2007 model year to better compete with Detroit's Big Three auto makers in the full-size truck war. Read the rest here. http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2007/...ap3525543.html It would sure be nice if they would offer some kind of incentive for the FJ. So what class and make of vehicles does the FJ compete with in the market? Hummer? Jeep Cherokee? |

| I'd say the main competitors for the FJ would be the Nissan Xterra, the Hummer H3, and the Jeep Wrangler. The Xterra is probably the most direct competition, however, I know a few people who have been on the fence between the two. -Jade

| Read a lot of reviews from websites and they do compare the FJC to the Hummer H3, Xterra, and Wrangler (most often to the Rubicon). Of course the Jeep crowd gets real vocal and insulting with their reviews when the comparison is focused on the FJC. Xterra is rated about equal to the FJC, the Hummer H3 gets the worst of the beatings for its on-road handling and acceleration. |

| The wife and I have owned both a FJ and an Xterra, and hands down the FJ to me, seems to be the more capable trail rig. Ours is only a 2wd, but it has been down a few pig trails with the rear locker locked and had no problems. It does seem more stable than the X, and does have alot better ride. The X's ride was more truck like, rigid, and rough, whereas the FJ is more car like on the rock roads that we travel on a daily basis. As Squid said the Xterra is more of a pavement pounder than a trail rig. FJ gets my vote. We got good life out of the Xterra, but I feel that the FJ will outlive the Xterra in the mileage and dependability sector. Only thing that might be a drawback on the FJ is the seating and comfort now that we are to be a family of 4. Guess that means I get a crew cab truck on the next go around. But, either vehicle would have a home in my driveway.
