| Toyota Offering $2,000 to Dealers Toyota Motor Corp. has extended a special offer to its dealers nationwide, offering them $2,000 to purchase base-model "B-cab" editions of the Tundra pickup, which was redesigned for the 2007 model year to better compete with Detroit's Big Three auto makers in the full-size truck war. Read the rest here. http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2007/...ap3525543.html It would sure be nice if they would offer some kind of incentive for the FJ. So what class and make of vehicles does the FJ compete with in the market? Hummer? Jeep Cherokee? |

| I'd say the main competitors for the FJ would be the Nissan Xterra, the Hummer H3, and the Jeep Wrangler. The Xterra is probably the most direct competition, however, I know a few people who have been on the fence between the two. -Jade

| From the Edmunds' comparison of the two, they preferred the FJ, but it was close, and it they were both stock. Some of the advantages of the FJ, such as being smoother on washboard roads, and its lower center of gravity could change depending on the particular aftermarket coil-overs, rear springs, wheel off-sets, and tires. For me the big advantage of the Xterra is the four independently operated doors, same reason I drive a crew cab instead of a king cab truck. But I could see myself maybe driving an FJ but probably not a Xterra. Lol The new 4 door Jeep might be interesting, but I haven't been very impressed with D.C. products, but a comparison between it and the FJ or Xterra, (especially by the same people that compared them to each other .... link in post #2) would be interesting. |
