| FJ Hitch Installation I just purchased I tow hitch for my girlfriends 2007 FJ and I was trying to install it yesterday but I ran into a little bit of a problem. Her bumper is equipped with backup sensors and I need to disconnect them. My question is how? Is there a certain way to disconnect the wiring harness or do you just pull them apart? Please advise. delmundor |

| Just did my own hitch installation on the weekend. I'm a little handy with tools - well I'll try it after someone else has success I ran into the same issue disconnecting the Backup Sensors - took me about 40 minutes to figure it out. Basically the plastic wire casing has a plastic clip that needs to be pushed down pretty hard (by hand) until it clicks. This means it's locked for disconnecting. Afterward you'll be able to separate the two plastic wire harnesses. The second backup sensor took me less than a minute. Other issue I encountered was pulling the sides of bumper off the FJ metal body. I reused the plastic clip removal tool. I thought I might break the clips but this tool made it really easy. I picked it up at a auto parts store for $12 Canadian. I'm sure I'll use it many more times on both the FJ and my other car. |
