Hiya folks Im new but have a fuel question and problem

I have an 08' Fj trail teams limited.

All of a sudden my truck wont take fuel. It backs up in the fill hose like the pipe is clogged I checked the fill pipe and it's not. It looks like there is a fuel pump at the bottom of the fill pipe, Is this the case? Has anyone ever had an issue with one of these fuel pumps ?

Thanks,

Toyguy

I've had that issue too. It can depend on the filling pump and the angle of the handle alot. Try to keep the angle straight down. I was at a pump on Thursday that kept clicking off every 5 seconds - pretty annoying.

Dude, it's a factory defect. It depends on the speed of the pump you are at, it's a real PIA, everyone that owns an FJ complains about it. You just need to get used to it I guess

I've had this problem too. I also have the same issue on my 2004 Nissan Titan. Design flaw.

Oh trust me, it's more common then you think across a wide range of models and makes and manufactures. Just have to experiment with angles and how far you put the nozzle in.

The way you worded your problem sounds like it is not taking fuel at all. Is that the case? If not, everyone has said it already, that its a PIA I hope Toyota has fixed by now. When I bought mine 2 years ago I had that problem all the time. But it hasn't done it in a long time, I also think the flow rate at the pumps are now lower than they used to be here in Michigan and Indiana.
