I have 2 questions

I have had my FJ for about a month. I bought it used with 19,000 miles but it was built in August of 2007. I live in Las Vegas and of course there is a lot of traffic. Sometimes when I slow down fast or slam on the brakes and then start to accelerate again the engine revs really high and the tires screech. Also, when I come to a quick stop or start it feels like the engine wants to stall. Is this normal or do I need to take it in for service??? Also, can I take it off road without any upgrades??

I would say that a trip to the service department is in your future. This doesn't sound normal. On the offroading, this is a pretty capable rig straight out of the box. I would go off-road but no too extreme.
