7,000 miles and a clunk? A good friend of mine who bought his FJ after he sat in mine now has 7,000 mi on his odo. For the past month or so, when coming to a stop, he gets a clunk coming from somewhere in the drivetrain. He took it into his dealer, in Chula Vista, CA and the service dept has told him that the service technician could not duplicate the problem and that the clunking was normal for FJ's, Sequoia's and Tundra's. I've got 20,000 trouble free miles on my TRD, no problems at all. Has anyone else experienced any anomalies, noises, thumps, etc. in their drivelines? I get the feeling that the service dept. is blowing smoke up Mike's ass. Sounds like this Toyota dealer used to sell Fords. Buddy Seifert

The problem which is quite common with trucks with automatic transmissions is the drive shaft. You need to pull it out at the rear and clean the splines , regrease them and put together again. Most have access points to pump the grease into , however this does not fix the problem, that's why you have to remove it. I had a mechanic do it to my tacoma. Four years later , no problems. It has'nt happened to my FJ yet with 27K

Same here Guys. On mine I have noticed a clunk when i come to a stop. Ususally when I release the brake pedal and start moving forward again is when i hear it as well. Dealer says they dont here anything when they take it for a rip. Mine doesnt do it at every stop.
