Engine problem

I am in the process of restoring a 1979 FJ40 and have replaced plugs, points and put a new Weber carb on the motor. Despite doing this, i still have an ongoing problem - whenever i am coming to a stop, slowing down or at a stop, the egine quits.

I cant think of what the cause is. Help?

does it restart immediately when you turn the key or do you smell gas? If it restarts its an idle issue, if you smell gas it's flooding.

You may have a vacuum leak...a rather large one. Check your brake booster.
