axle shortening

hey everyone, well my project is about to begin, paint will be complete by friday this week.

here is my question.

my project came with a 350...yea sorry!!!

dana 44 front high steer
gm 14 bolt rear
both spring over

i dont want these axles too wide as i want the body to look stock

i can find my stock width

but has anyone done a conversion like this, shortening these particular axles and how do i do this... i can cut weld fab etc... no worries.... point and ill follow

Put stock axles back on it. You're losing strength with the 44 in front.

The 14 bolt is stronger, but it's huge. You'll drag it all over.

If you NEED to go American, a Ford 9 is easy to narrow. a 14 bolt is much less so. If you need to stay centered in the rear do a hybrid cruiser/mini.
