Question I want an FJ

Hey guys, I love old trucks, especially the FJ40. I don't own one but I'm thinking of taking the plunge. The absolute worst part of all is I'm just not handy. This has kept me from getting an FJ or old Bronco. Am I getting in over my head by even considering it? I live on Log Island, NY and I know rust is an issue but would plan to garage it, would help a bit. Are parts for these trucks expensive or hard to find? Is it going to cost me a bundle to maintain this truck? Is there a particular year that would be more reliable mechanically? I love these trucks and wish I did know how to work on them (or any others for that matter) I would do my best learning and don't care about getting hands dirty but don't really know anyone to really show me the ropes etc... The truck would be driven about 8,000 miles per yr. I probably would take it on the beach more than any trails. Thanks for any info or advice offered.
P.S.Only truck I have ever owned even close is a 91 Wrangler. It was reliable so I learned very little mechanically, just basic upkeep.
