Smile Gearbox swap...

Hi all, first post here, and glad to be apart of this site!

Ok, I have here my own FJ40 1976 SWB (Petrol/Gas), and I love it, had it for years, and its been my horse through many places... Sadly, the gearbox is about to blow, and I am about to buy a wrecker 1984 Diesel with a reco'd 4 speed and transfer case.

My question is will this box and transfer bolt straight in?
I was looking at getting a 5 speed, although there is to much money involved and I dont think it will be worth it. I dont do much highway driving.

I have a 4 speed in there now, and I ask you members, will a diesel 4 speed go straight in?

Thanks in advance, and I am looking forward to your replies...

The input shaft on a diesel 4speed is longer than a gas 4speed trans. The input shafts can be swapped in many cases... But that is beyond my knowledge.

Many in these parts would just swap in the diesel as well.
