| Is the FJ Cruiser a capable offroad SUV? I'm a brand new owner of a (used) FJ Cruiser. I had always thought that these cars were pretty good off road vehicles. However, I just did a search on best offroad SUVs and the FJ Cruiser is barely mentioned in one of the websites and not even rated in others. This one is particularly puzzling as it puts the Ford Explorer in the #1 spot! Best Off-Road SUVs Rankings | U.S. News Best Cars I'm no Ford hater or anything like that, but unless things have changed a lot over the last few years, the Explorer would not even be as good off road as an old school VW bug with knobby tires.... What gives? |

| The FJC is an astonishingly good off road vehicle other than the visibility, which, honestly is pretty important. The Explorer is the best selling SUV. It's not the best at anything, especially off road. The Rover, like the 200 series LC has electronic goodies that make it work fairly well off road. The 200 series, unlike the Rover will still work 5 years from now.
