OK...been looking at the FJ's since the new ones came out. Frustrated with the money I am throwing at my pick-up so looking into an FJ. a little concerned about giving up the truck bed...but only use it once in a while. Looking forward to learning more about the FJ through this site. Maybe it will help me decide which direction to go...another pick-up or FJ?

Welcome Hunter!

I was in the same boat when I bought my FJ. I had a Tacoma for years and loved it, but I didn't like the drum brakes in the back. They always get filled with mud when I go pheasant hunting and needed to be cleaned out before they froze solid. The FJ had disc brakes all the way around so I took a look at one. Well even though I never considered myself an SUV guy, I rolled the bones and bought one. I am glad I did. It handles better than the Tacoma off-road, gives me loads of interior space to play with, and the rubberized interior is easy to clean-up. Me and the dogs love it.

One downside though, if you pheasant hunt like me and your dogs get into a fight with a skunk, it's a long ride home.

I understand the debate. You won't be sorry in regards to the abilty of the FJ in the snow and mud, but I did keep my old pick up for the rare times I need a bed. I have to start the pick up every vouple of weeks just to make sure the battery is up. I have thought about buying a small trailer for the FJ to pull, and selling the truck.

Any more you can rent a truck just about anywhere so I wouldn't let the loss of the bed stop ya. Welcome to the site!
