| Hey! I am embarrassed to write this but, desperate times…we have already had our first significant snowfall in Ottawa and I still don’t know how to use the 4 wheel drive! The dealer I bought my FJ from said to push the A-trac and Rear Diff buttons, shift into H4 and drive. This doesn’t sound complete or consistent with the manual, which by the way I can’t even BEGIN to make sense of! Help…and please DUMB it down for me…I’m a chick and I’m blonde (no offence to anyone other than myself!) I need something along the lines of “before you start the truck” and please differentiate between cutesy little stubby shifter and regular every day driving shifter (please use those names if possible). I know, I know…I’m not even worthy of owning an FJ! |

| As I understand the manual, A-trac and the rear diff-lock, can only be engaged while the stubby shifter is in 4 wheel low, and the regular shifter is in 1st. They are not for regular driving. They rear diff-lock should ONLY be pushed when you are basicly already stuck, and spinning your wheels, or pulling out another stuck vehicle, like a Jeep or Hummer. Then has to be turned of as soon as your moving again. The stubby shifter should be in 4 wheel high, for everyday driving. I live along the lake michigan coast, we've had alot of snow already, and the FJ plows through it great. I hope I havn't misled you, but that is how I understand how the system works. |
