Hello to forum

Hello all,

I just ordered a 2008 SE and will be certainly asking for suggestions and experiences with add ons for the future.

I am going to be doing some logging on a property in Montana which has an old beat up logging road - not maintained in many years. The Cruiser should be perfect for this.

I will want to add a winch but have done no research on these. Do you always have to replace the bumper.

The winch will be used to pull fallen trees up or down to the logging road.

If you are any good at fabrication, replacing the bumper isn't necessary because you would be attaching the platform to the vehicle's frame. The stock bumper is in no way strong enough for that kind of application. Although, for around $1,000 you can get a winch bumper that will probably out last the vehicle itself. Personally, I think your are asking a little too much from your FJ by yankin' logs with it. Too much structural stress. I see frame twisting and transmission rebuilds in your future. Good luck with it.
