| Active Traction plus Diferential Lock Please, I want to know, if the "Active Traction" operates on both, front and rear axels. If it does, I want to know if I can use "Active Traction" in addition to the "Diferential Lock".Thanks and regards. |

| TBall, I appreciate your interest to help me, but... Now, I am sure there is a confusion, as far as I know, "active traction", only works when the F.J. is 4L, that implies that the F.J. is in engaged in 4WD, and goes at a very slow speed. There is no way, to drive the F.J. only with rear wheels. My doubt remains unsolved. Thanks any way. Manolo |

| Manolo, I have that same question and more. I just bought the Active Traction Control button and installed it this weekend. After having read the manual (by the way Toyota owners manuals are the worst on the market today) it says that you engage the Active Traction Control in LL. This is what I did and the little green dashboard light came on telling me it's working. However, when you leave LL and go to 2 wheel or four high the light goes off. The manual says that you should leave it on, and the Active Traction Control will come on when its needed. Soooo, will the Active Traction Light come back on when the system automatically engages or what? Squido, FJ Guru and Grand Pooh-Baah, we seek your wisdom ... |

It independently controls the brake hydraulic pressure to the four wheels in accordance with the extent Effectiveness of A-TRAC The effectiveness of A-TRAC is as follows: Off-road drivability that is equivalent to having the center differential locked and limited slip differentials on both front and rear has been realized. This function makes the operation of the differential lock switches basically unnecessary to ensure the ease of driving. A-TRAC allows for drivability benefits similar to those of locked differentials, while still allowing for the vehicle to be steered at low speeds, without the binding that would normally be associated with locked differentials. |
