Toyota Indecisive

Is it just me, or does anyone else see that Toyota being stingy with the info these days? Seems like every time I ask them a technical question, they always want to take my number and call me back, or they just plain don't know the answer. Do you think it's beacuse the FJ series is so new that the info isn't there? It's been out ...what... three years? I would think that would be enough time to get the technical knowledge for all kinds of refinements. I remember Toyota being a little more confident about their products in the past. Now it seems they don't know anything. Just an observation.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've been trying to find out when they are going to introduce their deisel engines over here and nobody knows. I would also like to get a Chiltons or Haynes manual on the FJ, but nobody seems to know when that will be out either.

When I got my 04 Nissan Titan I contacted the publishers for the Haynes and Chilton's manuals and they said it usually takes 3 to 5 years before a manual hits the market due to the length of warranties for new cars and trucks now a days. I have a bunch of stuff on the FJ what are you looking for?

Oh, nothing in particular there, Squid. I'm just saying that I shouldn't have to "go on a hunt" for answers to relatively simple questions. For instance; I ask the service guy something like "How much would you charge me to replace the original single exhaust with dual exhaust and dial up the computer for a little more HP?" Three Toyota dealers give me the same answer. They look on their computer and tell me it isn't in there. They don't even bother to work up a price. But they DO remind you that any work like that will void your warranty. Don't seem right to me.

Thanx Squid. Nothing really pressing, I just always like to have a manual when changing sparkplugs, doing brakes, etc. I've had my FJ since September and already have 17,000 on it - so a tune-up will be coming sooner rather than later. Thanks and take care.
