Need help in making purchase Hello all - I'm starting to shop in the northern VA and DC area for an '08 FJ. Here's the deal. I want a base model. Auto tran. The only thing I want on it is maybe a roof rack and brush guard. I may go aftermarket. But, the dealers are telling me that I cannot get an FJ without the upgrade to the alloy wheels. I specifically want the black stamped steel wheels. What's the deal. One salesman said that the steel wheel vehicles are for the African and Asian market. Can I get a BASE FJ in the States? Thanks!

I sell Toyotas in Arkansas which is in the Gulf States region. We generally don't get any FJs without some type of upgrade package. However, we can order one with just the standard options. The projected delivery date is the big unknown with a special order like this. We usually estimate a 3 to 6 month time frame.

I sell Toyotas in New York and I think it's pretty funny and a bit sad that a Toyota salesman would tell a potential customer that steel wheel FJs are only for African and Asian markets. The only "market" that Toyota builds and markets FJs for is North America. They are not offered for sale anywhere else in the world. I probably get 2 calls a week from people speaking broken English trying to talk me into selling them one and shipping it to another country. I'm not allowed however, that's not to say that some dealers wont sell them outside of North America. My boss just wont allow it. I have sold them as far away as Alaska though. In the Greater New York region you can get a 4704(4x4,auto) with just FE(federal emissions), CQ(convenience pkg.) and DRL( daytime running lights). That leaves out DL(diff lock) and AL(alloy wheels) which is the least expensive way you can get an automatic 4x4 coming in at approx $26,660. Add $1249 if you want the roof rack and brush guard. Any dealer should be able to preferrence an FJ for you this way as long as they have an allocation for one. Hope this helps your cause! If you're in the Northeast look us up at Toyota Dealer - Middletown New York area. Middletown NY Toyota cars trucks parts dealers. Middletown Toyota used cars trucks dealership. my name is Keith.
