About to buy question I posted this question over on yotatech as well but the more info the better so: so I am about to join the world of the FJC (hopefully) and had a question. I am looking to get a 2008 mt. My question is does this come standard with the rear diff lock or is that an additional option. According the the dealer it comes standard on all mt's. But according to Toyota's website it is an option included in the upgrade packages. Is it possible to just get the convenience package and the rear diff lock? No dealer around me seems to have anything like that. thanks

The rear diff lock is standard on the manual transmission FJ. For some unknown reason, it shows as part of the upgrade package, but it is not priced into the package. Notice that the upgrade package costs less on the manual FJ. In the Gulf States region, the common configuration for the manual FJ without one of the two upgrade packages is either AL & CQ or CQ & OF (Offroad Package).

Hi everyone, I'm about to get an FJ while I'm home on leave from Iraq in March. I plan on special ordering, because I hate the look of the aluminum wheels, and I don't need any of the stuff they have in the upgrade packages. I just want the first conv. packages. I have some questions about some of the performance accessories. Which ones are worth the price? I will be using it as a daily driver, about 20 miles to work, and very occasional light off roading. I'm going to get the MT. Specifically, what benefit does the short throw give? does the exhaust improve performance, or just sound, and same for the air filter. You can probably tell I'm not much of a gear head. On the interior, how sturdy is the rear strorage net? Are there some options/ accessories that I would miss, but probably not until I don't order them?
