Question Bigger, Biggest TIRES

Two-Part Question:

Would bigger/wider tires increase the stability of my Cruiser .. ? I think I would feel safer with bigger/wider tires especially while speeding and taking turns (then again i could just slow down- hahaha)

If so, what is the biggest set of tires I can get?

Bigger, as far as taller will make it more unstable. Wider or putting wheel spacers will make it more stable. putting on any tire that will have a larger contact patch will hurt your fuel economy. Hope this helps.

After driving a Jeep Cherokee for 4 years and having owned a Wrangler, I can tell you honestly that the FJ is MUCH more stable on and off road than a Jeep. I find myself taking off-ramps 10-15MPHs faster than I ever could in my Cherokee, while feeling perfectly safe. The only problem is I tend to stare at my Clinometer to see what kind of angle I am pulling around the corner...thus I take my eyes off the road My advice is to leave your tires alone. Adding un-sprung weight(wheels and tires) greatly reduces your gas mileage, and I always say just leave well enough alone.
