Blind Spot Mirrors?

Anybody added any small self-adhesive convex mirrors to try and correct any blind spots that they may have on their FJ? If so, did it help? The wife does lots of highway driving and the last thing we need is for her to bash into some one running 70mph.

I don't own an FJ (yet!), but I used to have a big old van back in the 70s which had an even worse blind spot problem. The right rear blind spot was so huge that a whole car could get lost in it. I once ran a VW off the road (unintentionally) when changing lanes. I just got a convex stick-on mirror and the problem was solved.

Adjust you mirrors so that you can only see the door handle and the line that divides the road. This gives you a bigger field of view to your blind spots. Your side view mirrors are for just that side view so if you are looking to your rear you aren't really using them right. The rear view is what you need to use to see what is behind you.
The hardest thing is getting used to driving with your mirrors our like that, but once you get used to it you have such an easier time knowing your blind spots are not as invisible as they used to be.

I have been driving an FJ for three weeks now and I can tell you that once I adjusted my side mirrors properly I have had no problems with the blind spots.

I can use the rear view mirror fairly well, because I am pretty tall and can see a lot over the spare tire. However if you are short in stature then I predict thatyou might have to ensure that the seat adjustment is giving you enough height to use the rear view mirror.

There is a blind-spot to your rear, if someone in a small car decides to tailgate you. I have seen this occur.... however it merely an annoyance.

Thanks for the replies guys. Now that we've had it for a couple of months, I think she's got used to it.

I put on some small rectangular ones near the bottom of each mirror. They help seeing a small car that may be close on your right side. I am happy with them. I think they were about $2 each at Advance auto parts.

Nope no mirrors. Maybe in the future, but if you adjust your mirrors right, you can see from them just fine.

Ya, I did. I like those little round thingies. Makes me look like I know what I'm doin'... That's my worth.

Cruiser is correct...it is all in how you adjust your side mirrors. Just wish there was something that could be done about the rear view. Guess I'll have to get a camera.
