read on another forum that the fjcs body are being found to crack in the fender well area. if this is true what is toyota doing to fix the problem. is lifting and adding heavier front bumpers the problem. just wondering if anyone has info on this.

From what I've read it seems to be not only modded but also stock Titans that actually go off road. I've talked to some people locally that own FJ's and no one around here has had it happen so I'm as lost as you.

it was on another fj forum (fjcruiserforum.com) tha t i seen this thread, but pics do not look like my fjs fender wells. you would tyhink if it were a problem you might here more about it. some said lifting could ba the cause. i wouldnt think a lift would effect the body.

I think it's heavily modded FJ's pulling some serious off-roading. Something like this is gonna happen regardless of the vehicle. I've seen pics on other forums with major air underneath an FJ. So I guess they've got no one to blame but themselves. I've always been fond of the saying: "Take care of something, and It'll take care of you."

To be honest, I'm sick of reading about engine bay rips. Yes this problem seems to afflict early production FJs produced before 07. That is not to say that newer ones are immune. So far it is a small number of people who have reported this problem. It is not caused by heavy aftermarket bumpers, lifts, or off road driving. The problem has been documented on completely stock FJs that have never left pavement. Toyota is aware of the situation and is staying silent on the issue until they have conducted a full investigation. Look under your hood regularly and if you see a bulge or crack, document it and wait for toyota to respond. This does not degrade the structural integrity or safety of the truck, so even if you have a problem it is not a pressing concern. When they figure out what is going on they will fix it. So sit tight, chill out, and enjoy your kick ass beast of a truck!

sad to say we've had a couple of bulges and rips in our 702fjcrew club. one was repaired by Toyota, and the other is awaiting response from Toyota. I advised Toyota of slight bulge in mine and was advised to bring it in if it got worse.
