aFe Air Intake for FJ - Review

Ok kids, I installed an aFe Air Intake for Betty on Monday evening. I have driven it around for a week now (including a 650 mile business trip) and have been fairly impressed. It does what it says - increases horsepower, increases torque, and helps gas milage.

The box says it adds 19 HP and 22 ft.lbs. of torque and my butt dyno believes it - especially on the higher end.

As far as fuel economy goes - I did notice a difference of about 1.3 miles per gallon more on my long highway trip. I haven't noticed much gain in city traffic though. The box said it adds 1 mpg.

The extra power is what really got me excited though. I am sure it will help with towing as well as an added zip on speed.

Here is a link if you want to see the one I used. I ordered from these guys and it came quick. It was very easy to install and fits into all existing FJ mounts - no modifications necessary. Thumbs up.
I got the first one on the top of the page.

Hey tommyboy,
A while back you installed an aFe cold air intake, did it change the sound of your engine, if so how?
Thanks Tom

Hey Sage,

When you are at cruising speed, it sounds pretty much the same, but when you get on it and put your foot to the floor, it gives a testosterone-filled growl.
