TRD exhaust review

Thought I'd pass along some helpful info...

I bought the TRD cat back system for my FJ and paid $380 shipped, this seems to be a good price if not the best on the internet.

Installation took about 45 minutes with using a sawz all to cut the rear stock tail section.... the flange spring bolts from the cat side came off no sweat.

The kit comes in two pieces with one gasket for the rear tail piece and all the necessary hardware.

After install I noticed a decent amount of smoke for about 10 minutes on the first drive. It smelled like and oily substance burning off, so I believe it was residue from the manufacturing burning off and I'm calling it normal.

As far as the sound, it's not as loud as a Flowmaster, but it has a nice sophisticated tone and growl to it...and by the way it's street legal, which Flowmaster is not.

I have not noticed any significant gain or loss in gas mileage.

The exhaust did seem to add a little giddy-up at high RPMs, nothing major at all...but noticeable enough to mention.

All in all I am pleased with the TRD product, pleased with the quality of the construction and happy with the sound. Like I said, you will not drown out the Chevy truck with dual exhaust driving next to you, but it is audible from quite a distance during acceleration.

Any more questions feel free to ask.

Where did you find the exhaust for $380? Is it TRD or aftermarket?

Thanks!
