| The chemical plant that I work for uses Royal Purple everywhere. They make an outstanding product. It's pricey, but I think it would end up paying for itself in the long run. I myself have seen demonstrations that the Royal Purple rep. put on here at the plant, and it's a very protective lubricant. He filled a cut away gearbox with gearbox lube, then drained it, and ran it dry while applying force to the gears and it never smoked, sparked, or broke down verses the other lubricant that we had been using which failed in 15 minutes. I have had no personal experience using Royal Purple products, but there are several members of a Nissan Titan forum that I am a member of that live by their products. Here's a link to Royal Purple's website for further information: Royal Purple Consumer Products

| So, how long between oil changes when you go with synthetics?...in my case Royal Purple. I put in Royal Purple 3,000 miles ago, and now my FJ oil change light ("Maint Reqd") comes on. I can live with the fact that the light is annoying. Anyone have input on how long the Royal Purple holds up? I seem to recall someone mentioning that RP doesn't start breaking down until 11,000+ miles, although I think I'd want to change it much earlier than that just to change out the crud. |

| Amsoil started in 1972 and they have always been at the forefront of Synthetic's technology. AMSOIL - Synthetic Oil, Motor and Engine Oil, Lubricants, Air Filters, Oil Filters and Greases Simply the best! All others are just copy cats. "Maint required light" Hold the OD buttom in while turning the key to on. Hold button until you see the dashes on the OD screen disapear. Light will go off. Make sure you are on the OD and not trip a or b. |

| Get an Oil Analysis done. It's really the only true way to know how long you can go and what oil and viscosity works best for your vehicle, driving style and enviornment. I can go 13,000 miles with 0W30 Mobil 1 extended in my Nissan Titan before the oil wears out (TBN is low) but only 8000 miles with the same mobil 1 but 5W30 so it pays to have the analysis done. | Amsoil all the way!!! 220,000 in my old saab turbo without 1 turbo problem using Amsoil 0w30..... I have used it in everything and absolutely will not use anything else. SSO-0W30 has a 35,000 mile service life and their synthetic filters 25,000 miles. I still change at 7500-8000, which may be overkill, but the engines look and drive new longer than you can believe. AMSOIL - Synthetic Oil, Motor and Engine Oil, Lubricants, Air Filters, Oil Filters and Greases for fj cruiser I use SSO-0W30 and an EAO-34 filter It calls for an EAO-57 filter. EAO-34 filter is a slightly larger(taller) filter with a slightly larger o-ring gasket(better sealing). More synthetic filter media = better filtering area and less resistance. |
