Mirror turn signals

I think I saw a post here once that mentioned turning the running lights on the mirrors into turn signals. That sounds like a very practical idea. The running lights in the mirrors now serve no purpose other than decoration as far as I can see. Does anyone have s a set of instructions for getting to those lights? If so please post them.

I have a thread posted on installing heated mirrors, it talks about how to get everthing apart. All you would have to do is disconnect the lights hot wire and locate the turnsignal wires, and tap into. Should be simple.

I also have seen an article on hooking up the turn signal so if you're going to do one you might as well do them both. Let me find it.

Here ya go, I cleaned it up and found some pics.

The following should be done with the assistance of this link for heated mirrors Installing heated mirrors - Toyota FJ Cruiser Forum since while you have it torn apart why not.

Step 1:
Tap a pink line for a right hand signal and tap a blue/white stripe wire for the left signal. The taps need to be "after" the signal relay up under the drivers side dash or your lights won't flash.

Step 3:
Put your windows in the full and upright position for the following
Remove the door panel, kick panel, door sill molding, speaker and access cover to the mirror.

Step 4:
Now remove the mirror (3 screws and a plastic clip)

Step 5:
Remove the plug and metal bracket on the mounting surface of the mirror

Step 6:
Remove the rubber gasket on the mirror base to expose "path" to mirror body.
Note: set the mirror down, we are done with that for a while

Step 7:
Remove the door wire harness bracket. This will allow access to the wire "tube" that runs from the door into the cabin

Step 8:
Route 2 wires for the power and ground for the light thru the wire "tube" into the cab. (Yellow and Black) (The Red and Black wires are for the Heated Mirror Mod. (When routing new wire always leave plenty for strain relief, tying up and future repairs.)

Step 9:
Reinstall the door wire harness bracket and tidy up the wires leading into the mirror access hole.

Step 10:
Run the wires through the door and out the mirror hole. Make sure to leave enough slack.

Step 11:
Now fish the wires into/through the mirror and remount the mirror.

Step 12:
Cut the 2 wires on the mirror light and connect 1 of them to the new "power" wire and connect the other cut line to the ground wire. THEN PUT EVERYTHING BACK TOGETHER IF YOU TRUST YOUR WORK. (I'd wait until I test it

Step 13:
Now run the new power and ground over to the taps made in step #1. Plug in the power wire to the "pink" and "blue/white" taps and connect the ground wires to ground.

Step 14:
Now do the other side
