Aux. Power

anyone have clever ideas for adding aux. power for devices in the cab (radar, gps, nintendo ds, cell phones, etc.) I am contemplating using a hi amp breaker wired directly to the battery and hidden discretely in the cab. will have constant power when i want it with the truck off but can be shut off completely for longer periods where the battery might be drained. Thoughts?

Several FJC owners have added aux power to their machines. Go to the national forums (fjcruiser.com) and take a look there. Several of them have posted pictures of the mods and details of how they installed aux fuse panels and others. You don't need to be a member of the forums to look around.

I added an additional fuse block under the dash. I wired it straight to the battery with a 40 amp fuse. Then connected it to the ignition with a 30 amp relay, so it's only powered with the key. Did not take much time, and it works great. I did go with a marine grade fuse block, rather than a cheapy from an auto store. I think it was about $15.00.

Yeah, you can get the outlet at any Auto parts store and I've seen people put them on their A-pillar, under the dash, and under the hood for emergency lighting and compressors. Heck, I even added two of them to my tractor so I could plug in a couple magnetic driving lights so I can mow and work at night and I have them under the bed rails on my pickups. Just make sure it's fused as Brian stated.

By the way where in Kansas are you at? I'm down South of Wichita by the Kansas Oklahoma border.
