Well...it seems that this isn't a very popular transplant.
I wasn't able to source an adapter kit, so I told the engine seller I'd pass.
Now I'm thinking that I'll do a ring job on the Toyota engine.
This in spite of the awfull luck I've had with the FJ40 six.
-Oil pan popped a spot weld & oil thrown out. Non-functioning oil press
gauge meant I didn't know what was happening until main bearing #1
started barking.
-Valve seat disintegrated leaving chunks of metal bouncing in the cylinder.
-I talked to the guys at the local junk yard. They didn't have an engine,
but a yard 150 miles away had one they claimed was "good".
I paid & had it sent to the garage where poor old Toy had been towed.
It was installed, & when I went to pick up, was told it had poor
compression...did it ever! A huge blue cloud followed the car
everywhere! I'm surprised I didn't get busted!
Well I've got a couple of tractors that need work, then a ring job & maybe new main bearings. |
