Installing a hitch is a straight forward bolt-in job, typiclly just a four bolt installation. You will have to plug in a adaptor harness for the lights. You can of course get both the hitch and harness from Toyota, but a cheaper way would be one of the many aftermarket companies. Make sure it is for a FJ and not a generic kit. I hope this helps.
