Like the personal computer hmmm. IBM already did a proprietary architecture called Micro Channel... major mistake. They should develop an open architecture, where laid-off Ford mechanics can be brought on-board with minimal training. The biggest cost of doing business is the employees.

Also, if an open architecture is an industry standard between Ford, Dodge, Nissan, and Chevy, wouldn't most mechanics prefer to learn it instead of a proprietary one? A proprietary system gives the employer an upper-hand since employee's skills are for the most-part would be Toyota-centric, and unmarketable anywhere else.

A big mistake IMO, if I'm understanding this correctly.
